The Leonard Tow Humanism in Medicine Award presented by The Arnold P. Gold Foundation honors a graduating medical student and a faculty member who are chosen as exemplars of humanism in medicine. These individuals demonstrate both clinical excellence and outstanding compassion and respect for patients, their families, and healthcare colleagues. The award is chosen by the M4 members of the UMMC Janette Pullen, MD, chapter of the Gold Humanism Honor Society. This year’s recipients are Dr. Susie B. Phillips, MD, and Ms. Meg Francis, MS4.
Dr. Phillips is Associate Professor of Pediatrics here at the medical center.
Ms. Francis is a current senior medical student who will start her medical internship here at UMMC in July followed by a residency in Diagnostic Radiology at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Congratulations to these two amazing women on this prestigious award.
